Equality and Community

CREATING A DIVERSE AND INCLUSIVE BUSINESS WHERE EVERYONE BELONGS AND SUPPORTING CAUSES THAT IMPROVE LIVES AND COMMUNITIES.

Activating our business to improve lives

We believe that diversity is beautiful and improving our representation and inclusiveness is imperative – this work is vital in creating the kind of change we want to see within our culture and industry – and in the world.

With the resources we have and the platforms we’ve built, we have the privilege to help transform lives in our team, in the communities we work in, all around the world. Empowering our Princess Polly community to do the same is our next big goal, because we know you’ve got what it takes to change lives, too!

Our Equality and Community impact area is all about how we take care of our team, centralize Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, and support the causes we care about in the broader community.

Princess Polly is a participant of the United Nations Global Compact, and has aligned our Earth Club mission with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Within our Equality and Community impact area, we are focused on three Sustainable Development Goals where we believe we can best contribute to:

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
Reduce inequality within and among countries
Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

OUR COMMITMENTS:

We’re committed to ensuring every Princess Polly customer can see themselves represented in our marketing, find the right product that meets their needs and see Princess Polly advocating for the causes they believe in. To start, we’ve launched our Curve collection, which extends to a size US 20 (AU 24). This isn’t a one off though, as we’re committed to expanding this product offering every week.

When it comes to our team, our Current State Assessment identified the strengths, opportunities and any barriers to inclusion that may exist within Princess Polly’s culture. Based on the insights from the Assessment, we’ve built and implemented a Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging strategy that is tailored to address any gaps.

All leaders within the business have participated in inclusive leadership training and our teams will participate in training on inclusive workplaces and implicit bias in 2022. We’re also forming a diversity and inclusion advisory council, which will help us over the coming years to continue creating amazing team experiences, map out employment pathways, and improve employee representation throughout our business.

To learn more about our other Primary Commitments, visit the Princess Polly Earth Club Hub.

When it comes to our local and global communities, we’re committed to assisting, advocating for and giving a voice to the causes we care about. Established in 2021, the Princess Polly Society is our program for partnering with charities that promote mental health, body positivity and wellness for individuals and communities, that provide opportunities centred on equality, or that protect and care for local environments.

A core part of these partnerships is helping our selected charities to reach their goals through funding. That’s why we are committed to donating a minimum of USD$500,000 every year to projects that support our three pillars (mind & body, equality and environment), and creating opportunities for our customers to donate and get involved too.

We truly believe in the work our first Princess Polly Society partners, Butterfly Foundation and The Loveland Foundation, are achieving and have donated $150,000 to each so far.

We also encourage our customers to directly support these important charities by making a $1 donation at check-out.

GOOD HABITS START AT HOME

At our head offices and distribution centres in Australia and the US, we’re focused on looking out for the mental health and wellbeing of our team members. Nothing means more to us than seeing our people live their best possible lives!

There’s a few ways we do this, including:

  • Giving everyone employed by Princess Polly, including casuals, access to an Employee Assistance Program
  • Employing onsite community managers who look out for everyone’s wellness and inclusion
  • Making a global hotline available for team members wanting to reach out and offer anonymous feedback
  • Supporting a culture of continuous learning through platforms such as Linkedin Learning

EVERYONE IS INVITED

We believe that diversity is beautiful. We’re putting this belief into practice by:

  • Ensuring our products are available in sizes US 0 - US 20 (AU 4 - AU 24)
  • Engaging with partners which reflect the diversity of our audience
  • Having a strict policy against retouching for all images
  • Improving the accessibility of our website, taking into consideration those with different abilities. You can view your options currently by selecting Accessibility in our footer.

We’ll continue to work on improving representation in our marketing and on our website by engaging with a greater diversity of partners, using our platforms to support issues we believe in and working to understand where our products could be improved to meet the needs of all people.
