st art

st art

Is it just me or is the street art scene getting prettier in Australia?

Not having a car, I've always been a back street wanderer.  Love to see the texture of bricks and rusty windows - and the way people just love to tag a freshly painted wall.

A little off the subject, have been having a giggle at the 'council initiatives' to bring back (or just start) the alley culture in Australia over the last 6 months.  Sydney and Brisbane CBD areas have been alive with council paid art installations of late - with the intention bringing to bring flow and culture back to these creative spaces.  All great, all great.  And it's so fabulous to see new little cafes and unique boutiques popping up here there and everywhere in these off beat locations now.  Not sure whether little Brisbane alleys will ever be able to compete with our cafe friends in Melbourne ... but, I think our street art is starting to become really fun.

Seeing so many great pastings about of late.  Pretty colours, interesting graphics, sometimes intelligent statements or thought provoking tags.

And so much reading in the street press about female street artists.  Up there with the underworld art boys.  Good for them.

Our big love = vexta.  A melbourne lassie who is now charging a pretty penny for her work.  Good for her, good for her.

Our other big love = how many colours are available to buy in spray paint.  Not a good thing for someone who has a colour addiction.

If you have any great photos of pretty street art, I would love to see them ... email me at polly@princesspolly.com.au mxx

COMING UP DAISIES!

COMING UP DAISIES!

POLLY stores are popping up like daisies in your garden!  2 more sleeps until Sydney City and Mooloolaba open the doors to POLLY heaven!

It's too exciting!

The creatives behind these stores are just amazing (not that we're biased xx) ..

Long time POLLY independent designer, Courtney is the force behind Sydney City - we're going to be a part of the very creative and exclusive 100SQ concept space - true to POLLY style it will be very tiny - but v amazing!

And Jill!!  Oh ... with the longest eyelashes ... Jill used to model in Europe and is bringing all her fashion passion to the Sunshine Coast.  A true beach babe - expect this POLLY to be very swim focused!

Must finish all my work now so I can go to the opening party!

max out - your skirt

max out - your skirt

Every season we see an update from the last.

We're just loving the maxi skirts showing on the catwalks for spring and summer ...  A great alternative and directional update from last years maxi dress.

Wearing them high on your waist, the maxi skirt is an amazing style to lengthen the leg.

Landing in fine tulle, with lace inserts, with layers and in amazing nude shades ... oooh & eeep ... who can decide what to wear!

See you at the POLLY soon!

ASK ... GRACE?

ASK ... GRACE?

It's always exciting to land a new label at the POLLY - but we're particularly excited about this one!

ASK GRACE has hit the shelves in a pretty big way for the Spring - depending on how clued you are on your POLLY styles ... they have been the gentle force behind the fairytale dress, twice as nice, the body, fly with me, the market dress, betty ... the list goes on (and on and on)!

We're loving ASK GRACE for the great prices - seriously - how does a long silk dress get to cost $80!?  They are very feminine, working with pretty colour ways and lovely detailing and really ... we like it just for doing something a little bit different.

All very POLLY in our opinion.

Check the styles out online in the label stable section or they also have a great website with facebook and all that jazz so have a look-see ... www.askgrace.com.au xx

Until next time ... mxx

cossie, cossie, cossie

cossie, cossie, cossie

What is it about 26 degrees and amazing beach outfits popping into my head?

Or am I just planning what to wear to the opening of our new BEACH FRONT POLLY at Mooloolaba!!  Eeee!

Yes!  POLLY is heading sand side - to the Sunshine Coast!

And with perfect timing for the new swim deliveries - we are watching out for new deliveries from MANIQUIN, NOOKIE BEACH, FLAMINGO SANDS & new label SOMEDAYS LOVIN.

The POLLY focus for swim this year has been to double up with styles that you can get some festival wear out of too.  Exhibit A - how HOT, HOT, HOTTIES is the pictured style?

Shotgun - hmm - all colours?

RUSSH ON IN

RUSSH ON IN

Really liking the direction of RUSSH under the new editor (ex fashion director) Stevie Dance.

Definitely taking a stronger artistic turn, I think the magazine is edited very well to share a story (take me home for this month) in combination with reporting relevantly on both international and Australian art/fashion/lifestyle.

Such a refreshing change from usual glossy repeat options.

On a polly note, TOI ET MOI has been advertising with RUSSH for a few months now.  Was excited to see the beaded swing dress as their hero dress for this delivery.  It's so hot.

And being unpacked now ... does timing get more perfect?

Spring has sprung, flowers are popping, the shelves are bursting - love is in the air!

Whew ... it's been a busy few weeks at POLLY with all of the gorgeous spring ranges arriving in a 2 week window!

We have been so busy unpacking styles we haven't been blogging!

Anyhow, now that our heads are out of the store room ... we've noticed that Spring has arrived!

The beach road trips, yummy lattes in the sun, rides on the bikes, festivals galore, evening picnics - so many things to need outfits for!

Spring is so fun for pedaling.

And night time picnics.

And wearing shorts.

Eating ice creams.

Wearing big glasses.

and, and, and ...

Now, must unpack the playsuits as I need something to wear on my new bike.

state of excitement

state of excitement

Eeep. Loving SS for being the time that new labels hit the shelves. Most excited? STATE of GEORGIA at the POLLY.

In all it's colourful glory, STATE OF GEORGIA is due to hit the shelves for September.

Think poolside party dresses, high colour octanes, brave new word styles and head turning styling.

STATE OF GEORGIA is a long time leading Australian label.  We're so excited to welcome it to the POLLY.

polly and the darling tree

polly and the darling tree

Gorgeous new graphic design has just hit the counter at POLLY.

This month we were lucky enough to work with local graphic design beauty ... Joanna Klima.

In a pretty nutshell, she's a Gold Coast girly with love/passion/obsession with graphic design and all things on line.

She's been a long time POLLY brand creator and we're just loving the sketching she's whipped up for our Spring direction.

Spot her work on POLLY swing cards near you or check her portfolio at http://www.thedarlingtree.com/about

What would we do without the creative ones?
